Making groups of 5
I am learning to make groups of 5. There were 5 teddies to start with. I put 2 teddies in the yellow house and 3 in the white house. Now I know 2 and 3 make 5. It was not hard for me to put the teddies in the house.
When I did it again I put 3 in the yellow house and 2 in the white house. So now know 3 and 2 make 5 too. This is a bit tricky for me to make different groups of 5.

Spring blossoms
Look at our spring blossoms! First we drew the branch going across the page. We coloured our branches using pastel. We made the blossoms by scrunching up tissue paper and gluing them onto our trees. We then made a little bee or butterfly to go on our picture. We sketched our picture and then drew it on our plastic film. Mrs Bovill then cut them out and we glued them onto our picture.

Acrostic poems
We are learning to write an acrostic poem. We wrote about spring. It can be tricky to spell words. We enjoyed writing something for each letter. We had to think of a word that started with S, P, R, I, N, G and we had to start our sentence with this letter.
Mrs Bovill typed the stories for us and we helped her publish them. We got to choose a colour for the capital letters, the font and we helped choose the size so our page was full. Our poems look awesome!
We are so proud because Mrs Bovill thinks they are fabulous and we wrote great stories. We are proud because we are poets.
“I put capital letters in the right place.” Sofia.

Root words and the different endings
I am learning to identify root words and their different endings. I had to circle the endings and the root words. The ending of looked is 'ed' and the root word is 'look'. This was easy for me because I circled the endings first. I was happy because I did it all.

Rhyming strings
We are learning to make a rhyming string. We have read lots of Dr Seuss books and listened for lots of rhyming words. Our favourite story was the ‘Cat in the Hat’. We wrote down some words that rhymed with cat.
"I had to write rhyming words. I chose cat, bat, rat, mat, fat and hat. This is easy for me."

Using our word of the week and writing about community
I am learning to use the word ‘said’ in my writing. We are learning about community too, so ‘The Bee Lady’ came to visit us. I am so proud of my story. They look lovely, cute cool and super. It can be tricky to spell words like ‘bee’ and to type the words on the computers. The next step for me might be to try again so I can do it quicker.

Beginning sounds
On our whiteboards we wrote lion. Lion was in our story book. We pointed to the words and the beginning sound. It was lion and not tiger because it started with ‘l’.
"It can be tricky to read the book. I can look at the picture and the sounds."

Counting and forming a set of objects to 10
I am learning to count and form a set of objects to ten. I had to get out 6 teddies to match my number card. It is tricky for me to pick up the teddies. It makes me happy when I can get the teddies.
Writing for a purpose
We published our story. Our story was about mum. Mum was our word of the week and it was going to be mothers day. We wrote our story so Mum could read it. We have been learning that we write for a purpose. The purpose of our story was to tell Mum something we like about her.
"It is tricky for me to draw my picture."
